Today we have this interesting import game Find Love 2: the Prologue.
Now, I bought this off ebay some time ago mainly because it was cheap and it was a yellow-label. Little did I know how utterly boring and crappy this game would be. Even if you like this kind of stuff (anime girls) you would do better elsewhere. So let's break it down and see what this game has to offer to dating sim fans.
First off, at the main menu there is New Game, Continue, and I think
some sort of introduction to three of the main characters. Upon starting a new game (you can name yourself in English characters) you then are whisked away to a poorly rendered 3D room. From there you notice that on your desk are the contents of the actual game.
Mode 1: On the bottom left hand side of the desk is a book. In it are
character designs and small galleries for the characters, as well as drawings and sketches of the in-game scenery. Also in here is a short piece on the other girls in the Find Love 2 game. You can click on the drawings to see them up close and read about their backgrounds. The little movie for the game is nothing more then screen shots from the game with voice.
Mode 2: To the right of the book is a CD. Clicking this will take you to
the menu with the three main girls where you select a girl. Then it goes into a poorly animated music video featuring the girls. The music ranges from upbeat fun to in-the-rain sad. The animation is pretty poor and overall, I just ask myself, "why?"
Mode 3: In the upper left section on the desk is a mode called the
"video phone mode". You pick one of the girls and then call them. Their picture is then displayed on your fancy video phone. There are some choices in the dialogue to be made, so that's keeps thing a bit interesting (yeah right). Wow, what a boring mode. Nothing happens; you just look at a poor still picture of a girl on your video phone. Next mode please, and let it be good...
Mode 4: In the upper center of the table is a VHS tape. Let's see what's
inside. Pick one of the three girls and then-ahh so here we have the visual novel part of the game, a sort of sample of the real thing. Hmm, real life backgrounds, I like those. Character's mouth moves, I like that. Voice-overs, this is good. Not very many pictures for the girl though. There are choices in the dialogue on where you want to go (I think). I like some of the backgrounds, very peaceful. Too bad the girls are very plain and static. Once you enter this mode you can not get out. I had to instant reset on my controller because I got bored. Well, there's one mode left to sit through...
Mode 5: And on the far right of the table is a giant book. Clicking the
book brings up Information on the three girls. See all of their personal statistics, hear them talk about themselves, and of course a gallery of pictures. The pictures are mainly of the girls in various states of undress, (no nudity, just underwear stuff). Overall not very hot and very boring.
So from that I don't need to tell you that the gameplay here blows.
That's it for the game, it sucks.
But let's go into more detail to be fair. First the graphics: they are
terrible. The character designs are boring and cheap. The pictures suck and the CG is lame. The menu interface is interesting, but nothing special. Sure some of the backgrounds looked nice, but that's a pretty lame compliment.
The sound: it is terrible. These girls have boring voices and the music
is pretty music box girly crap. Come on! Most games in the genre usually have an awesome soundtrack but this is not the case. Hell, it's not really a game I guess. It is not full voiceover either.
Replay. Replay? Hahaha! Ohh nice one. Sorry I can't see why you would
want to touch this thing ever again. Unless you have no friends and need to desperately talk to an anime girl on the phone, then I see no reason playing this game. Sure you'll want to see the pictures of the girls in their underwear once, but once you find out that the pics are neither sexy nor good, you'll let this one sit on the shelf.
Import warning: Hmm well it's not too hard to get around the menu,
and most of the game is spent looking at pictures, but there are some dialogue choices in some of the modes. You won't understand a damn thing, and further more, you won't understand why you bought this piece of crap. My import warning is this: just stay away. I don't care how cheap it is, you can do way better on the Saturn!
Ouch, what a bad game this is. And to make matters worse the loading
is really long. The actual Find Love 2 game looks ok, the graphics and characters look improved. This is just a data disk so you really have to be a fan of the series to like this game. Don't be tricked into buying it if you just want a new 18+ game. Conclusion: This game sucks and you do too if you buy it.
