As one of Sega's really rare items I have to warn whoever is reading
and thinking of buying one to have a specified configuration gd-rom such as the broadband passport, Planetweb 3.0, or one of the in-game browsers such as propeller arena to be able to play the two Dreamcast games it lets you play online.
Besides that there's not much difficulty in setting you adapter to work
since it only is required to in put in the normal 0.0.0.0. And you're set to go. It's also quite easy to juts swap your old dial up modem with the new one and it actually looks the same except for the different Ethernet cable. When you log on to Quake 3, that's when the magic starts to happen. Before, playing such a game would be quite annoying because of the snail pace connection, but now it moves at blistering speeds. It's amazing what can be done with the switch of an adapter. The gameplay becomes more constant and you find yourself really playing like it was offline.
In Phantasy Star Online then it becomes even better because the
pleasure to never be disconnected is worth its huge price in one go for sure. When logging on ( this game is why you need to configure the adapter in order to play it ) the game just connects in seconds , and its amazing to just be able to go on forever playing without worry. Also, apparently when someone with a BBA sets up a game for PSO there's actually a huge difference in speed according to my source. Also, a warning: never try to use the in game browser for PSO and then go online because that for some weird reason makes you invisible to everyone else because of the huge difference in speed.
The broadband adapter certainly has its perks and I must say since I
got broadband it really saved my PSO and Quake 3 play time. But remember, you won't be able to play with such awesome games as Ferrari challenge, Star Lance, or Maximum Pool. It's a shame such games couldn't be supported but I guess we really cant have everything and anyone who still enjoys such games and is on dial-up perhaps if you like it stay there if you can. Because the BBA is a lifesaver for those who really have to get broadband but at the expense of not playing some of the online games that it.
80% (For not supporting all games).
